Take a look at the two ads below. Imagine your current business logo is feeling a bit dated. Or imagine you’ve started a new company and you want a sharp logo to represent your new business. So you start looking for a logo designer. Which ad do you click on?

Notice that the ads have much in common. The title text is identical. The URLs are almost identical. The primary difference between the two ads is found in the body copy. Which ad do you think generated more than twice as many clicks?

Earlier this year, WordStream released a free tool that AdWords advertisers can use to get a quick audit of their accounts. Now that we’ve graded thousands of accounts representing over $180 million in AdWords spend, we decided to dig into some of the data (all anonymized of course) and see what trends we could find.

Today, I’m featuring another contest from the ongoing optimization of the BoostCTR campaign running on AdWords. I’m doing this for two reasons:
Reason #1. It’s important that you know “we eat our own dog food.” Which is to say, we follow the same ad optimization process that we recommend to our clients.
Reason #2. We have now completed a few BoostCTR contests. So I can show you how the ads have evolved over the last couple months.
With that in mind, let’s take a quick look-back at the very first contest we ran in this campaign…
