PPC Weekly Roundup — the Get In Shape Edition

May 20th, 2011 by

This is the time of year when everyone is frantically trying to get in shape for beach season. Well, we figured what better time to pump up your PPC campaign and whip things into shape? This week’s roundup has lots of goodies, from lessons on relevance to more PPC data Excel tips, even a nifty infographic to feast your eyes on. So let’s get started!

Michelle Martin of Microsoft Advertising raises her glass in a Toast to Relevance, offering advice for maintaining relevance and emphasizing quality at the keyword, ad, and landing page level to boost your overall ROI. Speaking of quality, ClickEquations‘ Craig Danuloff has a great post on Search Engine Land about Why Google AdWords Quality Score is Your Friend.

WordStream is wrapping up their multi-part series on Re-Creating AdWords Campaign Performance Charts in Excel, by PPC Prospector’s Chad Summerhill, with their 5th and final installment going up this week, focusing on campaign filters and date ranges. If you’re craving even more Excel goodness, Silvia Anghel from The Search Agents has a how-to for manipulating data in Excel.

Who has time to spend hours at the ‘virtual PPC gym’? Pamela Lund understands and offers her help with her post, PPC Optimization in Under 30 Minutes a Week, covering steps for both search and display campaigns. Talk about quick! If you need to spend a little extra time targeting different areas of your search marketing strength training, however, Jennifer Horowitz from EcomBuffet helps search marketers get buff for Bing with her Bing Rankings Cheat Sheet on Search Engine Journal.

How about flexing those ever important mobile muscles? Ron Jones of Clickz.com offers his advice with 6 Steps for Building a Mobile Strategy, one of which is developing a pricing model. Be sure to check this one out if you’re looking to expand into the ever-growing mobile market! Amy Hoffman of PPCHero gives further help with her post Mobile-ize the Troops.

Other great posts we liked this week included Search Engine Watch’s How to Avoid PPC Strikeouts, Ian Lurie’s Internet Marketing Planner infographic, SmartInsights’ post about changing the traffic-building mindset, and Search Engine Land’s post about the future of the (likely unrecognizable) SERP.

That’s all for this week’s roundup. We hope this helps you during your ‘spring training’!
